Purnendu (Sandy) Dasgupta has authored more than 350 papers in addition to book chapters, etc. and holds 20 US patents, including one on electrodialytic reagent generation technology on which current ion chromatography is based. His current research interests include capillary scale liquid chromatography, especially ion chromatography, novel detection and data transform schemes in chromatography, iodine nutrition of women and infants and the effects of perchlorate thereon, development of iodine analyzers, green analysis of arsenic in drinking water, measurement of cyanide in saliva, blood, and breath towards rapid treatment of cyanide poisoning and rapid analysis of trace heavy metals in atmospheric aerosol to act as conservative tracers.
